Italy – New Government Sworn In, Vote of Confidence Today in the Senate, with Israeli Press “Friendly”

Italy – New Government Sworn In, Vote of Confidence Today in the Senate, with Israeli Press “Friendly”: The Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, and his Cabinet took the oath on Saturday, 22.02.2014, in Rome. The new Government is due to take the vote of Confidence at the Italian Senate first, today at 2pm local time (1300hrs GMT). The Cabinet is made of 16 members (8 women). International media attention remains high on the new Government in Rome; the new Prime Minister also received formal greetings from most G8 and G20 members on his first day in office; a local Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, picks up old statements by Matteo Renzi in 2012 in which he argues that Iran is the most prominent threat in the Middle East, and how he would maintain a broadly pro-Israeli stance, in line with what was initiated by Silvio Berlusconi’s Cabinet (who “slowly revered Italy’s traditionally pro-Palestinian stance” – Haaretz transcript).
